Easy Cake Decorating with Jelly Beans

Cheap, yummy and available in every color, jelly beans make great decorations.

Consider the possibilities:

Spell out names and messages

Use as roof tiles, brick or stone.

They can be jewelry, gemstones or pendants on a necklace.

Eyes, nose or mouth for critter cakes

They can make colorful borders .

Create rainbows, flowers, butterflys or other designs and patterns with them.

M&Ms work just as well. I make all sorts of things with them: flowers, butterflies, rainbows, you name it! And the kids love them! Though they do try to pick them off the cake even before the candles are blown…

Encourage kids to create shapes or edges with the jelly beans. They can write their name or initial, create a rainbow or flower and even make eyes and a nose for an animal-themed cake.
